Don't be in a hurry to re power the fan, it's very important in hot weather, wait until next Summer .

Older GM starters work very well when in good shape and properly maintained .

There's a heavy duty version you may not be aware of and some rebuilders assemble cleaned and painted junk that isn't any good, I prefer to build my own GM starters using junkyard parts, then they work properly, quietely and for decades .

Th gear reduction starters are nice as they increase torque greatly and use less battery reserve but I prefer the higher cranking speed .
