I understand it very well ~ they're scared witless of law suits .
The Saginaw Gear Division made most of those old steering boxes, they all tend to leak out the gear oil .
The good news is : the sector shaft output seal is the same from the 1940's through the 1970 model year so any GM dealer usually has it in stock for about $12 .
Easy to change too
