Re: What's in the GMC Sierra Grande package

RPO YE9 does in fact offer the same features on both Chevrolet Sierra Grande and GMC Sierra Grande. Both are actually an RPO on top of another RPO, Z84 Cheyenne/Sierra. GM didn't list on the SPID that way, but just the names and features tell it. You could read the correct replies made just yesterday in another thread here asking virtually the same question, only for Cheyenne Super.

GMC still did a few things their own way in this era. One was the bedside Sierra and Sierra Grande emblems, which you pointed out. GMC introduced the Sierra and Sierra Grande a couple years before Chevy came out with the Cheyenne and Cheyenne Super counterpart. In those years GMC did list both as an option on top of another option. They did other things different from Chevy, too, but more the same by 71/72. I don't know why GM didn't put Cheyenne Super emblems on the bedside. Probably figured the cool western block letters were cool enough on the fender. GM only added the small simple "Super" below. Imagine big block letters spelling all that out (again) on the bedside. The GMC script style works well, same as Longhorn. I figure GM just decided to leave it on the GMC because it worked out well.
