Most of the first C/K 20/2500 Supers/Grandes were bought to haul campers. A heavy duty truck with comfort and appearance features was a newer notion back then and camper haulers opened that market up. You'll see more non-a/c trucks in the north because most people in that region didn't feel the need for it. You see more of these trucks in regions where the great outdoors is most enjoyed. A camper hauler with a/c and sliding rear window was a common pair in camper haulers to give a pass-thru if nothing else. But also, it's nice to let the breeze cool you when it's not so nasty hot. Especially where people take campers to, like the beach with a breeze or the mountains with cooler air.
