The 454 even uses the same distributor as the small block, so caps and stuff are the same.

I used a Th400 behind my 454 swap in my truck. It takes an electrical kickdown rather than a cable like normal trans use. I bought the Lokar kit and am very happy with it.

A good tranny shop can easily build a 700R4 that will live behind that engine, but it will cost you some more money than a Th400 build will.
