No, not at all. Look at that picture above, my engine has headers and an alternator both, without that bracket you showed in your picture.
If you use the 69-72 truck brackets like my picture shows, there is nothing that bolts to the header, so no aftermarket brackets required. Everything bolts to the head. I use these brackets on all of the street rods I build. They are still available new from GM if you really wanted nice ones.
I don't like aftermarket brackets myself. GM for me.
