my 350 engine had been removed, as a lot in the Pacific Northwest trucks had, but all the historical or current pics I have seen show it on the driver's side. memory serves me that the big block had it on the passenger side, and not sure about other engines. I "believe" all 350's had it on the driver side. Any easy tell-tale was how the stock aircleaner was installed. if the intake neck was on the driver side then the heat riser and stove pipe would follow suit. Perhaps do you still have the factory label on the aircleaner? that might help tell you how yours was.
