I put ones from the front door of a Jeep on my 63. I cut the rubber bumper into three even pieces, then reinstalled everything with one of those slices. I believe the door opens to just about what the factory ones do, and there's still a little cushion for the checks to bounce on.
They work so much better and I absolutely love not having the door close on the back of my legs anymore.
I was able to source two original ones from a junkyard Jeep, so I have no experience with the aftermarket ones
