I am currently going through this. One thing I have noticed is the pedal set up on my 61 has a flat spot on the shaft pointing down. When I robbed a pedal from a 4,5,6 truck it has the flat spot pointing up.

I was able to reverse the bracket from a 6cyl. truck to use with a V-8 truck. I will probably lengthen mine by welding each of them together to get the height I need for a tall intake on a BBC install.
