The I6 and V8 brackets are indeed different. The I6 bracket has an indentation in it. Also, the L shaped notch where the bellcrank attaches is facing the other direction because the I6 bracket mounts to the frame with the vertical portion toward the engine. The V8 bracket faces away from the engine. Here's a photo of an I6 bracket. By they way, in '67 they used the I6 bracket, bellcrank and pushrod for V8s as well.
