I will be doing that to my '61 shortly.
I expect to merely shorten the rod to the master, and fabricate some sort of extension to hit the brake light switch and reach the stopper. If there is a stopper. I can't remember.
You can't really re-shape the arm itself, as it still has to contour the floor.
