There were factory options for brake systems on most of the offerings through GM. After the mild makeover in '81, the lighter duty 1/2 ton Squarebody trucks came standard w/the 1" brakes but you could order them w/the optional HD 1.25" set-up. Higher optioned trucks would typically have the 1.25" brake set-up.
