I have been looking at these as well so I don't have input on how they work or fit but I have found they have BIM add on to get different gage functionality. This is usually displayed in the center area on the tach and speedo gage. I believe if you use the option to hook upto your OBD 2 port you will have the option to display the trans temp. If you are not running the new engines I still believe you will have the option to show a digital temp of the trans in that space.
I am looking to use a boost gage and wideband gage, these are able to display only as a number in that area.
I know there are options for the dakota digital that opens up a lot of possibilities however you gotta pay...
