Here is a rock auto comparison between the two. I finally found the ones with the most usable info.
I've never heard of that swap but the last time I had a 67/72 C 10 was 1989 and I'd have to look on the title to see how long I have had my 71 GMC 3/4 ton although it did cross my mind to to make a short box 1/2 ton out of it but it will tow my boat and car trailer as is.
