I purchased one about 5 years ago as it was a big block truck, and my intent was to put 1/2 ton suspension on it and basically convert it, but after a while decided to stay with what it had. Downside was a little rougher ride, and very difficult to locate a decent set of wheels. I finally decided on a set of Accuride wheels, factory hub caps and some passenger rated tires that are 16's.
That's a nice truck. I was thinking along the same lines, that someone could grab suspension off of a C20 or C30 and get some lift out of that. I like the way that you managed to tame the 3/4 ton a little bit. Seems like some good Bilsteins might help and just swapping out the springs if you really wanted the half-ton ride. With a long wheelbase and a big block in the front I think that would be a very nice highway cruiser pickup truck.
