Re: 1971 K10 Stepside - Getting a Roller Roadworthy

The NV4500 conversion from 2WD to 4WD is complete. It is now ready to go into the truck. The fifth gear nut gets torqued to 280ft-lbs. My largest torque wrench only goes up to 250 though, so I positioned the special crow's foot tool so that it pointed straight off the end of the torque wrench. The torque wrench is 18" long to the center of the handle, and the crow's foot is 3" long, center-to-center. This allows the wrench to be set at a lower torque, but it achieves a higher torque due to the increased leverage.

280ft/lbs × (18 / (18 + 3)) = 240ft-lbs

The NP205 shifter bracket from Advance Adapters doesn't quite fit the transmission. There are a couple of bosses on the side of the top cover that will need to be trimmed.
