Hey Sanity,
I am working on doing just the oposite.
Converting a 4X4 K5 to 2X4,
I will know within the next few months if it is easy or not. haha
From the research I have done it would be a pretty simple process.
I am selling all my 4X4 stuff now.
TH350 tranny, NP208 transfer case, and soon I will have the 10 bolt front and 12 bolt rear out. I even have a near new (3000 miles) Procomp 31" Mud terrains for sale soon.
As far as a truck is concerned you would have to look at whether or not you have all the tools etc for the conversion.
There is alot of expertise on this board for sure.
