Mine feels loose (no road feel) until you start turning off center, but cruising down the road I have to constantly correct (especially a rough road). My '87 is rock steady, the 'burb is loose. I'm going to try some anti-sway bar disconnects from Off-Road Design. They raise the bar slightly and relieve the lateral tension imposed by the lifted springs...which is of course just a side-effect of the design, but I'll take what I can get!
My GM dealer tightened the steering box as much as he dared to...if you tighten them too much, you can damage the gear...or so I'm told. I think my pump may be going too...that may be part of it...
