Re: 1957 seats

I have 2004(ish) gm pickup buckets, the kind with integral seat belts, and from an extended cab so they tilt forward. My truck is AD not TF so you have a couple inches width more to play with. These are comfortable seats and work OK in the AD. Some people will hate on the headrest, but I have been rear ended a couple times and consider headrests essential. I like the simplicity of the seatbelt install, but that bump on the seat is a little ugly.

In the AD, with the console there is no way the doors would close without squishing the front corners of the seat a lot and the seat does not line up with the wheel. Without the console and with the seats positioned nicely in the cab there is about 6" between them.

These seat rails sit flat on the floor, so I marked the holes and made up top and bottom plates to bolt through with some grade 8 bolts. Dead easy.

I have power seats so there is some height adjustment, I'm 5'11" and have the seat height near the middle of travel and very close to stock AD seat height. I took some pains to enlarge the column mount hole at bottom of dash and center it between gauges to get the wheel as high as possible

Gas tank is under bed, seats moderately upright and all the way back gives enough room for me or my 6' son to be comfortable driving. Manual trans too. A bit more seat travel would be OK so you can recline a bit more, but the seating position is very close to the bench in my '95 Sonoma. but more comfortable as these are better seats
