Yeah, I have memories of building an Olds 455 in my kitchen, and the only way in or out was the stairs...

I remember not long after getting married and the starter Bendix drive on my wife's car croaked. I took it off and rebuilt it on the table. My wife was thinking that it was going to be like what her cousin's husband did, rebuilding an engine in the house. In their case, there was oil saturating the carpet. In my case, I used newspaper to collect the debris.
