I thought I read that you needed this experience the way your going at this looks like you are getting what you asked for ...I wouldn't think of rebuilding a auto trans but now you got me starting to turn your way I have a motor and trans in waiting ...for rebuilding but need to finish my current build ...great progress on your project

Took the case to the carwash and sprayed the crap out of it. Looks pretty clean and feels good to the touch.

Found a worn bearing surface on the output shaft ring gear. Not sure if a tranny guy would go ahead and use it, but I have another one coming in. Every thing else is looking good so far.

Awesome posts! Never opened one up before and like yourself have a very basic understanding of how it all works. One of these days I'll tear open a TH350 and do this same thing.
I would've replaced that part as well. Might as well while you have it blown apart. Looking forward to seeing it go back together.

Tools I have been using.
The one to the right is to help guide in seals. The one in the middle is a slide hammer I modified to help pull the pump. Just welded a bolt that fit the tapped holes in the pump to a nut that fit the slide hammer. Last one is a clutch spring compresser. It looks odd but works well.

On your engine mounts, I would be concerned with the small surface area of the spacer transferring the weight of the engine to the frame. Not sure if it would be a problem or not. I just cut some flat bar stock the length of the mount, 1/2" thick, and drilled the corresponding holes.

I've always admired and respected good transmission techs. There is a lot going on inside of an auto, no matter the vintage. It doesn't take much to mess them up!
