Re: 1st Transmission Removal - TH350
Here is a picture of the Th350 in the '62 frame.
On mine the gearbox holder is in X and can be unscrewed. Disconnect the battery, support the gearbox when you unscrew the holder. Drain the oil, put a large pan underneath, it's always a mess. You will probably have to remove the exhaust, at least on one side. Disconnect the vacuum line, oil cooler lines on the gearbox, unhook the kickdown cable on the carburetor, loosen the shift linkage on the gearbox, remove the drive shaft, loosen the gearbox screws on top of the engine and unscrew them, then support the engine at the top so that it doesn't tip over when the gearbox is out. Then unscrew all the other gearbox screws and the starter. If you have a gearbox jack all the better, a second hand is also helpful. The gearbox should come out backwards with a jerk. Be careful that the converter stays on the gearbox and doesn't fall out. I hope I haven't forgotten anything.
