best market place for selling

NOT TRYING TO SELL MY TRUCK.

Just curious what the different ways people are advertising to sell their trucks. I am of the older generation now and all I seem to hear is Facebook to sell anything. I see craigslist is now charging, offer up seem to be not doing well and this forum seems to keep up with new listings, just wondering what people are using? swap meets and outings??? Local or national, Ebay??? Thoughts

I have never used it and I don't follow it but reading the posts on here it seems to me that the "Bring A Trailer" web site is a good outlet. Stuff seems to sell good on there.

I've sold a few hot rods on CL over the years. Yeah you get the folks that want to help you sell and the meat heads that just want to low ball. I was in industrial sales for 30 plus years so I have pretty thick skin. I just tell both not to bother me anymore and block their cell numbers.
We don't do Facebook.

Re: best market place for selling

I haved used Craigslist and FB Marketplace with good luck on both and no issues. Marketplace seems to reach more folks right now,but that could lean to more fakes. Not been a big issue in my area. I have not ysed any auction/bid style sites. Inormally know what price i am looking for, so I am not trying to squeeze barret Jackson's type pricing.

My brother has used BAT a couple of times with good success, he says having them come out and take the pics/info is well worth the money. Not sure but I think he said about $250 for that service.

Craigslist is a tricky one but I have had very good results over the years. You have to know how to weed out the flakes.

No emails or text I will not respond, No financing........Cash only, I entertain offers in person only, Here's my phone number call me if you're interested....This seems to eliminate 99% of them.

Re: best market place for selling

I have used BAT one time to sell my 71 K1500 SWB. I was very satisfied with the result. My initial concern was that to list on BAT, I had to sell at "no reserve". They would not accept my listing with a reserve because it had a rebuilt title. I was really worried that the rebuilt title would scare off alot of bidders. I explained the reason for the rebuilt title in the listing (smoke damage from a garage fire, never wrecked) and not one bidder/viewer questioned the title. The truck bid up strongly the first 3 days, sat quiet for 2 days and took off again on the final 2 days. For a fee of only $99, BAT brings a lot of eyeballs to your vehicle. They also seem to have a good sample of bidders/buyers...individuals, collectors and companies who have the ability to make a purchase. After the auction concluded, BAT gives seller and buyer each others email/phone info and it's up to buyer/seller to complete the deal. BAT charges the buyer their 5% sales price commission and they're gone. I had no problem finishing my deal and that seems to be the norm on BAT

Re: best market place for selling

they have a few platform(s) for anything that you want to sell

just demand(s) at how you want to advertise or selling it

craigs has been a good place to sell and marketplace also ( usually in the area that you live in )

they also have the bay or bat is a good selling point but usually have fee s associated w it

or maybe trying online classified(s) or joining additional vehicle form(s)

Re: best market place for selling

Marketplace is the most miserable selling experience you'll ever encounter. If its a nice enough truck, spend the time to detail it, then take 2-300 very detailed pics and submit it to Bring A Trailer. You'll want to follow the comment section closely once it's listed to answer any questions, but its way less exhausting than dealing with hundreds of marketplace messages that never go anywhere. The last truck I listed on Marketplace was listed for 3-4 weeks and I received around 160 messages, with only two people that actually showed up to look at the truck.

ABSOLUTELY! Marketplace needs to have an IQ test before they let people use it (I might not not pass!) I thought craigslist was bad, but Marketplace is ridiculous.

I've posted vehicles on Facebook and Craigslist often, and have sold some within an hour. The more a vehicle costs the longer it takes. FWW, I've found straight up honesty about everything, and a reasonable firm price to be very effective.

Say speak of, get this. I've failed to sell a vehicle once, but it was my girlfriend's hunk of Honda Fit(s), under her rules. Everything works, and nice shape, cost plenty to get it there. Anyway, she said she sold it, so I deleted the ads my part, which were stagnant short spamming &*(%, Facebook primarily. I wouldn't pay 5K for that car, book says 12K+ private party. The car sat two months, new battery, 3K for the 100K service, fixed the elect components crap too.

Anyway, my point being, aside for the tragedy Honda built, whatever the rating highly exaggerated no doubt, the difference from vehicles I've sold past is her car is in the MiState of California, Sacramento area. It sat likely because trust doesn't come easy there, to put lightly. After all, theft has become a way of life there.

So people would rather buy from a dealer. To support that, she sat on the car for two months until she took a dealer's best offer for a $10,900 check. I've suggested she take that nearly two months ago; oh well, it's always better they're right. Especially a red-head I couldn't believe they'd pay that much. They'll sell it to a "college student" for some cash, interest and perks.
