I have a dashes direct dash in hand that I purchased many years ago before they discontinued the stock style and only offer the urethane. Best of luck to those with the current offerings.

The easiest way to remove and install a dash pad is to have the cluster, radio and glovebox removed to access the nuts. Otherwise it is easy.

RE: gas fumes in the garage. Seems like there may be a few potential sources for this, especially the leak at the carb. However, I'd also suggest replacing that gas cap. My truck that otherwise appeared leak-free had a cracked gas cap gasket and filled the garage with fumes. Replacing with a new cap took care of the issue. Make sure it's a "year-appropriate" cap, meaning it's a vented vs. a non-vented cap. Classic Heartbeat, a forum vendor, supplied a nice locking cap.

Thank you, I did replace the gas cap gasket (but kept original cap) which resulted in a much tighter fit. The original gasket was badly cracked all around the perimeter.

I need to get that old carb pulled off and addressed along replacement of the rubber fuel lines. Those are really old and soft.

Nice truck

The engine could be a 230. I have a 69 Short Step low option (ex US government truck) and thought it was a 250 until the machine shop found out it wasn't at rebuild time.

Not Bruce, but if it is a 250, it should say L22 on the SPID according to this website-

For all I know, the 230 was standard on 1/2T and the 250 was standard on the bigger trucks. That would make sense. But who would order the 230 in a bigger truck? Probably the same guy who ordered a heater delete. I'll put money on someone knowing the answer.

Trivia: the Chevy II/Nova came standard with a 143 Cu In 4 cylinder for many years. It's why one could see "250" on the fender of a Nova, as that was an option. The dealer I worked at right out of high school sold three Novas to the local school district. Absolute strippers. One had the optional "Torque Drive" transmission, which was a Powerglide that had to be shifted manually if one wanted to start out in first. Those Novas were utter dogs. The original engine in that truck was a 250.

I received the dash pad (saddle) and replacement lenses today that I’ve started installing (from SummitRacing)

- 2 grill lights (little rectangular ones)
- 4 side markers
- 2 backup lenses
- 2 tailight lenses

The side markers arrived with a thick foam pad resulting in my stock side marker screws being too short, ugh

I’ll have to get some pics.
