Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Wife and I marked a few more waterfalls off our list. The entrance to the cave is blocked but still cool. Saw a large black bear on the drive in.

Cleaned up its steel bushing and the shaft it rides on and smeared on a bit of lithium grease. Also did the same for the four drum rollers while I was in there. Fingers crossed.
Well, it was worth a try. The dryer ran nice & quiet for a few times, but the screech is back, worse than ever. Gonna get a Maytag kit with new drum rollers, idler wheel, and belt.
That should do the trick. If not, looks like it's time for a new dryer.

New dryers suck, why they need a mother board is beyond me...

Most of the new appliances suck. Most come from overseas too...
The motherboard is for the bluetooth to control it from a phone.
I've had enough negative experience with anything Maytag built in the last 20 years, that I won't consider them anymore. When the Maytag washing machine we got with this house seized the main shaft for the second time in 3 years due to a crappy design with crappy seals and bearings, it went to the crusher. Most of the mainstream appliances have only a 1 year warranty too. I bought a Speed Queen washer with a 7 year parts and labor warranty.
It doesn't have all the problematic bells and whistles, nor can we program it from our phone, which is exactly what we wanted to stay away from. Why the heck does a person need to control a washer from their phone ???

It's just nuts isn't it? A while back I was heading through Lowes and I swear I saw either a washing machine or dryer with a monitor in the door. TV or PC or something. Now who needs anything like that? Gizmos and gadgets are ruining everything.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

not my truck, my wife's inherited tacoma. brought it home last weekend, started working on it. polished out a bunch of minor scratches, replaced the rear bumper plastic. bonus, turns out it is a TRD sport. someone sometime pulled the decals off the box but it has the embossed TRD seats and embossed TRD exhaust.

picked up these today for $1400. brand new Fuel rims with new Nitto Terra Grappler A/T G2's. was on the guy's tacoma for exactly 3 days, maybe 20 miles on them. even though their the same size as the stockers, there about an 1 1/2" taller and a touch wider. they clear no probs, but it looks a little funny in my eye, so i ordered a 3" lift for it, hoping it gets here by friday. wifey does not want any higher than 3, she hates climbing into my crewcab, but it does sit kinda low stockwise. also ordered some vent visors's as the drivers rear one is missing. only other plans are a canopy and call it done.
wife is all giddy over her new rims and can't wait for me to toss them on

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Changed out the broken tail housing on my Chevelle in the storage building with no lights. I do have electric power and the entire 48 ft length has clear plastic on the ridge. It lets in a lot of light on a sunny day, but not under a car... LOL. I have an LED trouble light I used for that. I installed a rear axle last summer with 4.56 gears to go racing and apparently my original driveshaft didn't like the rpm and went jump rope which caused a severe vibration that snapped the housing off.
