What is the best type cruise control if your donor did not come with it?
My donor is a 2003 Express Van with a 6.0LS and an auto.

I think the answer will depend on how much work you want to do to integrate cruise with the ECM and wiring. There are aftermarket systems that will work independently of the OE computer. Those might be easiest option. Cruise units from some 90-94 ish GM vehicles can operate somewhat independently. Those units will use the OE speed and brake (and clutch pedal if equipped) signals. Other circuits include ignition power, ground, and the wires from the cruise switch.

That van would have had DBC throttle body. You'll need a servo motor off something.

If you are OEM manifold, computer and PCM, going to the wrecker and getting the cruise parts off any DBC LS truck is probably a good starting point. Get connectors too.
Swapping to a DBW TB might be just about as easy except maybe for your gas pedal choice.

I'm using Dakota Digital HDX gauges with GPS speedo and cruise. They also blue teeth all the gauges to your phone

When cruising for long distance's it's a must anymore these days to have cruise control!
