Painting Large Components
Morning all! Ok, so I am going to start painting the hood, grill, cowl, and fenders this weekend. I will be painting both sides of everything on stands as the entire truck is disassembled. I may be over thinking this, but should I paint the underside first, let it dry then paint the outter side last? My thinking was that in doing so, it would mean less potential for scratches on the side that you see as I flip stuff over to paint the other side? Or should I just seal and paint the outside and then tape it all off to paint the underside? I am not all that concerned with the underside, but I do want to put color on everything.
Thanks, Clay

Hi Greg! That is what I was kind of thinking as well. I built an A-Frame to hang some of the smaller stuff like the grill and cowl so that I can do both sides at the same time, but I would prefer to paint the larger items like doors, fenders, hood etc. in the horizontal position. Clay

Re: Painting Large Components
No, I am shooting a single stage urethane. I am going with TCP Global "Grabber Blue" for the body and "Championship White" for the cab.

Re: Painting Large Components
10 4....I was just gonna say if you were doing metallic, you don't want to do it all with it laying horizontal

Re: Painting Large Components
all parts should hang to paint same way they hang on the body. I know it is harder to keep down trash this way but..... Jim
