47-55.1 Hood panel question

Does anyone know where I can get the panel for the front of the hood that holds the latch pin? I have looked at classic parts and Chevy's of the 40' s and not found I.

I don't believe that they are available as a repro. The best I can suggest is that you should look around for a damaged hood with a good one that you can buy for a few bucks.

I might have one but don't know what shape it is in because it is sitting back where the sprinklers on the wheel line hit and may be rusted now. I'd have to fight my way through the weeds to get to it.

Ok thanks mine is in pretty rough shape but I may have to spend the time fixing it.

best is to snap a pic of exactly what you have need for and ask for anybody that may have the part available to PM you. otherwise we have no clue what you actually need. year, model would help but a pic says a thousand words.

I'll add that to my " I gotta do this" list for tomorrow. I have several in the shed and outside of one that I am saving for my truck the rest don't mean anything to me and won't be expensive. If they aren't good enough for me to use they aren't good enough to send to anyone and I'll see what I have and try to post photos.

OK That panel not the one in front of the radiator that holds the latch. I think I have one but am not sure what shape it is in.

I'll grab the flash light and go see if I can find it before I forget.

Well so far I have mowed my back to the truck and shed and after the second photo mowed over to the side of the old grain shed where my pile of parts should be but so far I haven't found the pieces I was looking for in that pile.

That gave me a reason to move the trailer that was blocking getting the riding mower in there and mow it and then try mow my way past the back of the sailboat. That sailboat is for sale if anyone knows some young people looking for a boat that can handle more than they can and is pretty fast under sail .

I spent yesterday at the car license office getting the paper work done on a truck and camper I inherited and who ever tried to help with the paper work made it a lot harder than it should be. But at least the parts hauler/dump runner is in my name and I have an 8 foot camper to stick on my 71 GMC to go to Bonneville and other places.

My son, daughter in law and grandson came in today and all things stop when they come in from Idaho.
