67 grill bowtie question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Ok, I have finally got off my butt and am working to finish up my truck. I am currently working on getting the grill assembly done but ran into a possible issue. When I went to put the bowtie emblem on it didn't fit flush. My question is do I have the correct emblem or not?

It looks correct to me. I don't remember them being particularly tight fitting. So vague and lose that you can bolt them on upside down.

Thanks HO. The black paint tells me it came off my '67. But the fit was just bad I was wondering if I had the right one or not

Mine looks like that too. It’s secured well but big gaps.

My bowtie on my 67 original steel painted grill loops fit perfectly, the same with my sons 67 bowtie fit perfectly with the original steel grill loops. We replaced his original steel loops cuase they were rusted beyond repair, so we decided to replace with after market well long story short, original bowtie is not a perfect fit.

I wish I would have kept my old trim to see what the fit would be. But it was so beat-up it probably wouldn't help me at all.

Yes 68bowtie in your first picture with the original steel loops like mine and my sons that was the fit, pretty much snug. In the second photo with the original chrome, not sure of the metal material my friends two original 68 have the same snug fit. In the third phone with the after market aluminum (?) trim, same not snug at all, though the trim looks the same it's off by some so the bowtie doesn't fit snug. I first thought maybe to move the trim apart to get the bowtie in more but makes the trim not look straight. The bowtie is hopefully bolted tight enough with no future problems, will keep a eye on it. From what I upstanding there only one company producing these. Peanut74 , yeah I kept my old rusted trim, there straight but a bit rusted maybe
they can be save by an experience wielder that would take on the challenge ($$) Thanks for the pics 68bowtie.
