Best engine degrease I have ever found is Totally Awsome from the Dollar store.
I'm dead serious, this stuff will amaze you!! With a cold engine mist everything with cold water. While it's still wet start spraying Totally Awesome everwhere. Let it set for about 5 minutes then spray it off with cold water and watch the grease and grime melt away.
