60 GMC 305 v6 valve lash setting process
So, I’ve seen the other threads about this topic and it’s still not clear to me….
Here is my current understanding of the process and if correct, my valve lash was set completely wrong, set by the PO long ago. 1. Set them in firing order (while perhaps not necessary , might be quicker?) starting with cylinder 1. 2. Set current working cylinder valves when both intake and exhaust valves are closed. 3. Verify the cylinder is indeed at the top of the block (top of stroke) by peeking down the spark plug hole and then putting something long (so it can’t fall in) into the hole to watch cylinder movement 4. Set both intake and the exhaust valve lashes at the same time to their respective gap. 5. Move on to the next in the firing order (6 in the case of the first run through). 6. repeat steps 2-5 Does this sound correct? Thanks for any help. |
