Strange VIN?
I've got a 63 C10 that has been in my family for almost 30 years. It's in AZ & I am in Iowa. My dad is trying to get a duplicate title for it because he lost the original who knows how long ago. The truck hasnt been registered since 01 (?). He went to the DMV & they told him that the truck has never existed in their system & they can't issue him a title. My question is, can anyone decode this vin? It's been on the truck since the 1st time I saw it (92) & hasn't ever been tampered with but when I try to look it up, I can't find any info on the 6th digit. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks! VIN# 3c1440102391

Re: Strange VIN?
After a little further digging, I'm finding that the O is for Oakland. Is this true? Thanks

Re: Strange VIN?
>3= year (1963)
>C= 2wd >14= 1/2 ton, short bed 115" wheelbase >4 (truck type)= pickup >0 (plant)=Oshawa, Canada.......Not Oakland >102391= vehicle#...number series started at 100,001 This is what I found...others can chime in and let me know if I'm wrong. They should be able to do a VIN# check or history at your local DMV office. I just went thru something similar like this today with a 55 Chevy car. It's a pain. My VIN# on the car didn't match the title.....ohh boy!

Re: Strange VIN?

I have a 63 C50 also has O and definitely not built in Canada eh! Just make sure when you go to DMV they know it’s a letter O not a Zero. Maybe thats why it didn’t come up in their system
