I finally got it figured out. The stop/detent for L2 was there but was so slight that if I wasn't paying close attention, I would go right past. Now that I have manually worked it back and forth it is becoming easier to feel while shifting it manually at the transmission. Thanks everyone for helping me figure this out.
Now on to getting the column shift indicator to match the transmission stop/detent
