My Camaro would hold 55-60 psi all day at idle, light driving, and free revving, hammer on it and it would drop down to under 10psi. The ECU did everything it could to keep the engine running, found a leak inside the tank from the pump line, fixed it and fixed the issue I was having. New doesn't always mean it works. Mine did the same thing, except it ended up being a plugged filter. I had the car painted and apparently, dirt/dust got in the gas tank. The car ran fine going down the road, but get on it a bit and it would fall on its face. I did what you did with the external gauge and BAM! There is was.
