So what would prevent me from running a ford Transfer case. (for Drivers side drop. This should get me "4x4" but with the ability to run lets say front struts from the same late model truck or even a custom aftermarket air ride setup.

I know that I am way outside the box here and I also know that I would technically not have AWD. It would be 4wd but give me better ride, lowered stance and essentially would have selectable "trackhawk mode" with big power.
