It’s adios to the BFG KO2

I’m still rolling on KOs on the K20 as it appears the KO2 will be discontinued with the KO3 set to hit the market in 2026. Article here: https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/enth...5c324bed&ei=12

Seems to be how anything is...if it works great, discontinue it, and replace it with something else.

Or design a new "upgraded" unit and make the older one obsolete thereby forcing you to upgrade and spend more $$$. Same principle as to why the new phones are out of date within a years time. Have to ''improve'' to justify the more costly unit. The consumer never wins out at all.

I didn't really love my KO2's. Lots of weight to balance and tendency to cup if not rotated frequently. I had KO's on a couple of different trucks and preferred those.

The first iteration of them got recalled because of these issues...

They can say it is improved but I have my doubts. The new tread looks lame to me. Oh well, all good things come to an end. I'll worry about it when mine wear out.

I really miss the OG bfg muds. They were a really classic looking mud tire.

Looks like the KO3 will not be offered in any 15” sizes

Re: It’s adios to the BFG KO2

I've been seeing alot about bfg and people they sponsor being at odds here lately...
People are dropping bfg and going to other brands..they say bfg has become very hard to deal with...

Re: It’s adios to the BFG KO2

I would say at least we still have the General Grabbers but they are discontinuing sizes too. They will probably be next to change the tread and discontinue sizes.

I love mine. Why can't Goodyear discontinue their Wranglers instead. That's what I am always replacing with KO2s.

Re: It’s adios to the BFG KO2

Looks like they are on sale now, I can't find a KO2 and they are pushing me towards a KO3. Anyone buy them yet?

Re: It’s adios to the BFG KO2

BFG still lists both of them on their website. I am hopeful that they will keep the KO2

Re: It’s adios to the BFG KO2

I have had (3) KO2’s lose their tread on my ‘02 Duramax. Destroying the bed side each time. First two happened back in 2012 when they were 7 years old. Not overloaded, not under inflated. Last one was 2 weeks ago. Just 6 years old. Once again, not overloaded and not under inflated. Might be able to save this bed side… but maybe not. Replaced with a set of Hankooks. Adios not just KO2, but BFG from my fleet.

Re: It’s adios to the BFG KO2

I’ve had a few blowouts with the newer KM2 muds on a company truck. It was loaded fairly heavy, the best I ever got from a set mileage wise was about 26,000. The blowouts always were on tires that were mounted less than a year. I’ve switched to the Toyo 12 ply muds and have been really happy. 4 consecutive sets now have gone over 40,000 miles with no blow outs, and only 1 nail puncture that was repairable.

Re: It’s adios to the BFG KO2

I have a set on my 2010 GMC Yukon XL 2500 and I really like them, particularly how quiet they are for an aggressive tread.

My guess is it is more of a light duty tire than it is advertised. They love to advertise it as something that "can handle everything Mother Nature throws at it!" but it's a passenger car tire for trucks.
