Frame in bad shape

Pulled the front clip off my 1966 GMC Suburban 4x4 and discovered the frame has already had some "repair work". Finding a complete new frame could be difficult. What years GMC or Chevy would have the same front frame that could replace this with?

Wow, that is rough. I might be wrong as I'm not well versed on the 4x4 differences, but I'm thinking the front frame rails are pretty much the same, except for the 4x4 specific mounts and brackets

I dont speak 4x4 either, but you should post more pictures to see what the difference would be on a 2wd frame

I checked with the guy on Craigslist. He didn’t have anything. Anyone else have one laying around?

Re: Frame in bad shape

Tchevs, are the 2nd and 4wd frames very similar? I thought they were quite a bit different.

I have never seen them side by side but from reading in the forum, I understand they are different. With that said, there is tons of people that have done the swap from 2 to 4wd and vice versa. A 4wd frame is going to be a lot tougher to find, thats why I said if you dont mind swapping your suspension to it?

Re: Frame in bad shape

Wrong side of the country, I have a nice 64 Gmc 2wd Suburban frame, I'm not going to use . Also don't know what might have been different on 2wd/ 4wd.

Re: Frame in bad shape

I know it's far from home but contact this guy.
He's very familiar with 4wd vs 2wd

Here are some pictures with the 2WD section. Hard to see the differences in pictures.
