Dome lights and switches
Looking for some help. The drivers side switch for the dome lights doesn't work, the passenger side does, and the headllight switch does. I bought a new switch, i also have a single wire under the carpet near that location that has constant power. Is it possible that is the wire to feed that switch? If so, how is it supposed to be routed?
Any help is appreciated. Happy new years to you all. RonWT Last edited by RonWT; Yesterday at 08:28 PM. |

Re: Dome lights and switches
Referring to the wiring diagram, which you need when doing any electrical repairs. Voltage is fed to the dome light through the orange wire.. The bulb is NOT grounded. Voltage passes through the bulb and goes to the headlight switch and door switches through the white wire.. If measured while any of these switches is off, voltage will be present on the white wire, this wire is the ground path.. If the wire you found "under the carpet" is white, it's probably the ground path wire for the dome light and connects to the door post switch.. The wire for the passenger side door switch doesn't normally go under the carpet.
