Engine enamel
I've been using Rustoleum engine enamel for any small underhood parts/engines/powersports parts for a while. It's very forgiving compared to alot of other spray bombs. Only thing I don't like is having to wait 24 hours to recoat after 1 hour, but thats manageable. Apparently Walmart doesn't sell it anymore. They now have Rustoleum ceramic engine enamel. I bought a couple cans and am not impressed. It claims that it can be recoated any time, which I thought was good. It fisheyes like crazy over cleaned bare steel that I cleaned with acetone, it lifted some of the older Rustoleum engine enamel that was painted 2 weeks ago quicker than paint stripper can. What are you folks using to make something not rust and maybe look OK underhood?
I know actual car paint is much better, but having to mix and spray and clean up every time I need to paint a little part isn't practical. |
