1969 C10 Project “Nosejob”

Decided to start the year off with a new project so here it is…

My 1969 C10 that I’ve dubbed “nosejob”.

The Bad:
From the pictures you can see that it has what I’m going to say are 67-68 parts on it. The reason I say “parts” is because well im convinced it’s only a 67-68 hood, front grill and maybe fenders? The radiator support has to be a 69+ because the headlights do not fit the bezels (off center, stick out way too far and just don’t fit at all. The bezels themselves are absolutely butchered to even fit) It’s been thrown together to look good from 10 feet but up close the nose has real issues which I plan on addressing down the road.

The cab has typical rust spots on the roof, cab corners, rockers etc. The bottoms of the doors and fenders all have their fair share of bad spots but the bed is surprisingly clean both inside and out which I’m happy about.

The Good:
Mechanically the truck is decent. It has a clean LS swap along with a 4L60, a nice cam and the supporting modifications. There is/was a small leak of some sort somewhere because front crossmember is covered in grease, oil and muck. It appears to have a fresh painless wiring throughout the whole truck as well which is nice. Currently it’s still riding on the factory drums all around which is a bummer, but included in the sale I was given various 5 lug swap parts but not everything id need to complete a full swap (I only got drop spindles, front rotors and calipers. As well as a random 5 lug rear that needs some serious clean up work) I’m almost convinced it’s already sitting on lowering springs too because it seems much more “leveled” than a stock unit, curious to hear some opinions on that.

As for the interior it’s actually very clean, newer carpet, decent seats, headliner and a dash that’s almost 100% complete. Dakota Digital dash, no radio but that’ll come in time. It also came with a black squarebody c10 bench seat but I’m not exactly sure if that’s going to fit without some work, I’m sure one of you guys could help me out with info on that too.

Plans for the truck:
It runs, drives, and stops but I’m definitely going to go through everything and ensure its 100% before I start actually putting any real miles on it. I’d really just like to throw some new wheels on it and enjoy it before I dive head first into the body work. I’m a Autobody Painter by trade and got an amazing crew of body guys around me that will easily bang out the rust repairs but I have to figure out the radiator suppprt issue first and foremost, get it up on a lift, fix any minor issues it may have and go from there. Eventually… full paint and a porterbuilt air-ride chassis would be the main hope and dream but only time will tell.

The fenders have to be '68 because the '69 up fenders will not match up to the '67-'68 grille. The '67 fenders do not have marker lights on the sides and the '68 fenders do.

The easy way to tell if the core support is '67-'68 is that the headlight buckets are a separate piece on the '67 & '68's, and the headlight buckets on the '69 up are welded to the core support.

A little bit of polish goes a long way…

Here's a cool 50/50 shot of when i started cutting and polishing the truck the other day. It’s not perfect but damn it put some shine back on this old truck!

Oh and you can also see how funky the headlights look with the wrong core support being used. I can't wait to address that.
