Torque Converter recommendation
I have a mid 70’s 454, oval port heads, dual quad tunnel ram with 650’s, mild cam, with 342 gears. I don’t know what converter is in it now with the TH400.
I have a newly built TH400 reverse manual valve body TH400 I’m putting in. I don’t know what converter to get. It’s not going to the strip. Not a Daily Driver, just something to have fun with on occasional weekends etc… Any suggestions? I may switch to 373’s in the near future. This is an OBS Chevy 1/2 Ton with the Computer removed. Thanks |

Re: Torque Converter recommendation
I've had really good luck with both Circle and Yank for my LS/4L60E swaps.
Maybe about 2800-3200 stall? |

Re: Torque Converter recommendation
I’ve been reading older posts on the Web that aimed me towards a 2400 - 2600 for street ability. I initially thought about 3000. I thought I’d come here for some 1st hand advice. Is a 3000 good for the street with the torque of a Big Block?

Re: Torque Converter recommendation
I would call Circle and or Yank with all your car/engine details. That's what I do. Again neither company has steered me wrong.

Re: Torque Converter recommendation
I'll also make a suggestion to check out FTI. I have one of their torque convertors and have not had any issues with it.

Re: Torque Converter recommendation
I spoke with Summit. They recommended a 2400. I think that sounds about right for what I have. Not going to the strip or anything. Still want some drivability on Weekends and such. Thanks for the replies. I appreciate it.
