What other makes do you collect?

It seems lots of us have other brands or makes of vehicles in our collections. Let's post and share stories of ours. Let's set a limit of more than 20 years old. Motorcycles are welcome too!

I bought the car back around 2003 or so. I noticed the for sale sign on my way home from work asking $1400. I called and after meeting up with the girl who owned it we made a deal and I drove it home for $1000.

It had no front valance (Well actually the original plastic valance was in the trunk in 3 pieces.) The front turn signal lights were off a 70' vintage ford pickup and mounted on some 1 1/2 angle iron. It had a P4B manifold with a 750 Holley double pumper on top of a Pontiac 350. It ran so rich a black cloud followed me all the way home. It had a early Formula hood and only the drivers side door and front fender was still the original Lucerne Blue the rest of the car was gray primer. The girl said they ran out of paint and never got back to painting the last part.

Once I replaced the intake and carb with factory pieces the car ran great. It was my daily driver for a couple years and made trips to Tiger Run in Bend OR. Made a few passes at the strip where it ran 14.8's on the non posi rear end. We're pretty sure the engine had a cam and some head work done to it.

Then it got parked, and loaned out, and parts from it got loaned, then got disassembled, and now it's 2025. The engine got installed in a 68 Lemans that I bought with a cracked block and then I sold the Lemans. The photo is of the car from last summer.

The other one is my wife's 70 Javelin. The 401 currently has a lifter type knock that isn't a lifter problem. (I changed cam and lifers the noise is unchanged).

Re: What other makes do you collect?

I've been riding my entire life. Here is my red 95 HD 1200 Sportster with 102,000 miles on it - I bought it new and still runs great. And my 06 HD 1200 Sportster that I bought used so I could ease up the miles on the 95. I don't currently have any cars/trucks other than 67-72 Chevys at the moment, but have had a bunch of others over the years.

I've had lots of cars but currently focused on Firebirds.

I have a few project cars in the back part of my property but don't have good pics. 2 '79 Trans Am's and 2 Plymouth Dusters.

That Monte is looking good! Is it big block car?

I used think I wanted one of those A100's until I helped a friend swap the slant six for a 318. Suddenly I lost my interest in old vans.

I have a soft spot I in my heart for Cornbinder's as my first vehicle was a 47 KB5. Not the truck the cool kids drove in high school.

I've rode most of my life until my back said no more. Surgery helped with day to day but riding motorbikes was too much. They're still in the garage I don't have the need to sell them as maybe someday...

I didn't know V8 swaps were a thing for later model Jeeps until I started looking for LT1 parts and started see them for sale a lot. Did you swap the 4 or the 6 cylinder out on yours?

Re: What other makes do you collect?

I was in need of a new plow vehicle. My dad's 76 Ford F150 with a plow was totally rusted out. Got the Wrangler as an insurance salvage. It was a theft recovery. Minor damage to the left fender and hood. But the 4 cylinder/5 speed combo was soooo slow. So I started picking at and soon it was a frame off resto. LS6/4L60E. 241R TC. 8.8 Explorer posi rear end with 4:10 gears. Full repaint. Powder coated the frame and other parts. It never goes farther than the end of my driveway in the winter. Summer time its my run around town hot rod. I don't off road it. Took on a gravel road once. LOL.
Couple more pics.

Well when your uncle was a Studebaker and then AMC dealer you end up with a couple . My Dad bought the black Hawk new it’s all original . Has 29k miles on it . The AMX I bought from my uncle in the mid 70s it was a trade in .

Re: What other makes do you collect?

Only one that runs at the moment. 1966 coupe that I restored a couple years ago, was originally building it for my father but he passed a few months before I could finish. It throws people off when I pop the hood and they see a I6 instead of a v8.

I'm down to 4 non Chevy cars and trucks at this time.

The 1934 Ford Coupe has a 377ci Chevy engine and a '91 Jeep 5 speed manual transmission.

The 1936 Ford Coupe has a 327ci Chevy engine and a Muncie M21 4 speed transmission. In June 2025 I will have owned this car for 65 years.

The 1957 Ford Retractable Hardtop has a 312ci engine and an automatic transmission. This car is pretty much all stock.

The 1969 Ford F250 is a real barn find. It has a 360ci engine and a manual 4 speed transmission.

I just listed the ones I currently own.

2004 Commemorative Edition Z06 Corvette 5200 miles

I know there are faster corvettes, but this car is a rocket ship. This is my favorite car to drive that I have ever owned. My 71 K1500 SWB and 72 Blazer get more looks and admiration, but darn that Z06 is fun to drive. My only issue is being old, it hard to get in and out of.

More bang for your buck than anything else out there! You got me beat on milage as our 02/Z06 has about 60k on the clock, these things have more HP than you can use on the street and still get 28-29 mpg, I've done it with trips to Oregon getting almost not quite 30 mpg on cruise control. This is actually the wife's little hotrod, wink,wink....every wife should have a Z06 Corvette.

Needed a back seat for luggage

I too have a rocket but not quite the hp you have 425 hp first day I drove it out of the showroom I did a 360 at the intersection

At the time I took my settlement and bought it cash, tired of putting money on my project and not driving it

Wanted one of those since HS, glad I waited this is such a improvement over the 67

I have owned the same car for 51 years.
It's been sidelined but will be back on the road very soon.

Tires and wheels were purchased new in 1975.
