Just another '69 "project" C10
I picked this up on March 3rd in Mannford, OK. Texted my wife that I was heading back, but stopping north of KC to rest a while. She said "didn't you pay attention to the forecast for back home before you left ?. Um, no, should I have ?? It was then she informed me I was an idiot for not paying attention to the weather back home. There was a blizzard due to hit nearly the entire route of I35 I needed to drive to get home and it was starting from the north around 8pm and working it's way south.
![]() I can't separate pics to narrate, so first pic is Mannford...10:30 am Tuesday morning Second is about 8am Wednesday morning, stuck 50 ft up my 4% grade, 180 ft long driveway. That's where it stopped moving at 1 am, so I shut it off and went in the house to crash. |

Re: Just another '69 "project" C10
I originally only wanted the front clip to put on my '67 C10, but most of this truck has less rust than many I have owned and I'm evaluating repairing the cab. The big issue is the firewall to cowl seam has rusted out and allowed water to sit in the vent housings and rusted them quite badly too. The engine is long gone and I believe the hood layed upside down for a long time and water eventually ate pin holes in the left front corner. Not a repair I am eager to attempt.
The radio hole has been bastardized as well and I am interested in anyone that has a badly rusted cab they would be willing to cut out a piece of the dash with an unmolested radio hole I could section in. All there is for a heater control is the face pale and a PO had to spray bomb the entire dash flat black. As usual, it seems, I got no keys for this, but got both the door panels off and the lock codes match, so assuming they and the tumbler are original and I have have Lock Dock make a couple keys. The right door seems to be locked and I can't see well enough in there, laying on the seat, so at a later date, I'll get the seat out to see better for what is broken/bent/rusted to crap in there. Also looking for the gate cups on the bed posts. I got a rough gate with it, but the cups are gone. |
