project:KingLow69
well thats right i started yet another project. my 4x4 project (SofaKingBig71) is on the back burner till i can gather enough cash to get a drop transfer case (profab or SCS).
so what happened was i came across this older 69' and pulled off the bed and some other small things to use and store. well with times tight and getting bored i scanned over all the extra stuff i had laying around and thought hell, i might as well try out something. i always wanted to chop a top ![]() ![]() so here is a lay out of what i got going on..... Cab: *cut 6" out of the back pillars.....cut 8"out of front pillars. *tacked in filler panels on the cabs top. (for my first chop i give myself a C+, it came out better than i thought) i tried to get the cab to look "normal" and not have such a slanted back look. *cut 5" off the entire bottom of the cab. *suicide the doors with some heavy duty gate hinges *reinforced doors and cab for the suicide *i am the process of learning and making panels for the floor boards, door jams, and making new bottoms for the doors, since i cut them off. just about have the passenger side done. Stuff i have: *a nice beefy small block 350 that will need new cam and lifters. i plan on running a tunnel ram. *i have a th400 or 700r4 to chose from *bought some 2"x3"x3/16" for the frame. *the 69' frame will donate the middle cross member, trailing arms, pan hard bar, and rear axle. from measureing i will have to cut, shorten, fish plate and box in the trailing arms. i plan on running the air bags off these to get a little bit more lift. *front axle from what i believe is 47'-50' model chevy 1/2 ton. *bags all the way around, 1/2" valves (i like when they move fast), switch box, etc... *painless wire harness *parts for bed *two beer kegs to cut up and make seats Plans: *needing help on what parts to find to get the front end in working order. *overall i want to keep it simple. just get it put together and drive it around. my 9yr old son thinks it is one of coolest trucks..lol, so i would really like to get it done where we can cruise it. * i would like to run the Vintiques artillery wheels. run a 28" tall tire front and a 30" tall rear, white walls (if the build allows me). be around a 126"--128" wheel base *open front *find a grill off a tractor or maybe even just make a grill. *headers out and over the sides of the frame *need a compressor for air ride
