Steering column question from a new member.

Is the '67 column a one year only? The lower spline shaft is HUGE compared to the replacement I sourced from a '69. I bought the truck with a custom vice grip steering wheel that ruined the steering wheel side of the shaft. The columns look very similar, just the lower shaft diameter is different. Should I go back and get the lower shaft? Or should I try to source a '67?

I searched, and could not come up with an answer. Thanks in advance.

'67 & '68 standard columns are the same and '69-'72 are basically the same. The only differences are auto/manual/tilt features....

Welcome, to use the column you have to replace with you need the intermediate shaft. It will fix all of your troubles. Jim

Thanks, I guessed something was up. I wasn't sure if the bigger shaft was for manual steering and the small one was for power, or vice versa.

Thank you, I'll head back and grab the rest. Any idea if there is an advantage in grabbing the '69 power steering gear, or is my '67 good enough?

Unless your power steering is the "Ram Assist" style it has already been upgraded. The only power steering available on the '67's was the "Ram Assist" type of power steering....

Good to know, it is definitely a power steering gear. I'll continue with the column swap, Thanks so much.
