Re: Ac. Compressorr issue

Have you tried to add freon lately?

Usually undercharging will do this but over charging will also do it. Best way to see if it's overcharged is to hook it up with a full set of a/c hoses to check the psi on high and low sides -static and idling or running.

Re: Ac. Compressorr issue

If it started doing this after you recharged it, it may be overcharged. Barring obstructions or defective compressor cycle switch, the best way to find out if it's over or under charged is with set of a/c manifold gauges. I would do that first even if I had to have a shop test it before tearing into the system. You can run into unnecessary expense if compressor is damaged.

Re: Ac. Compressorr issue

Possible the orifice tube filter is mostly plugged. The moment the compressor cycles on, it over-pressures and the high pressure switch cuts out.

2nd the suggestion to use a dual set of gauges to test.

It's for a 2000 but it probably is in the same location. This guy on youtube ain't too happy with the Sonoma engineers. Orifice tube is under the accumulator cannister.
