skinnies

I have a 79 c10 and I'm trying to find some skinnies for up front and 15x10s or 12s to run out back. Being the fact I'm cheap I'm trying to find some used ones but I keep finding mustang 15x10s with 6.5 backspacing I'm not really sure if I understand this right but if I use wheel adapters that space it out 1.5inches will that make then be the correct back spacing for our trucks?

So a 1.5 spacer on a rim with 6.5 backspacing makes the rim 5 inch spacing? That's what I want correct? Btw truck is lowered with flip kit in rear spindles and coils up front. I'm just trying to make sure it'll all fit before I spend the money. Thanks

I am not there to look at the truck . But 6.5" backspace with a 1.5" spacer would be 5 " backspace . 1.5" is to much spacer .

Yeah with so many wheels available, I'd SURE not run a spacer or adapter of any kind. If your wanting a 12" wheel out back, you better just figure on a narrowed rear or the tire is going to hit the frame, wheeltub, suspension or body. 12" is a LOT of wheel. I've got a spare set of ConvoPro for the pfhat look was on the 66 before it moved from show to more go oriented ( 15x15 with 5on5 w/ Hoosier 33x22.50-15's for the rear, and a set of 15x8.25's again in 5on5 patern,, yeah it redefined the term pfhat tire look, lol) So trust me when I say the rolling resistance of a buttload of rubber under a vehicle is not to be ignored. It's a SIGNIFICANT performance inhibitor .

For the front,, change the spindles / hubs or have some re-drilled for the patern you want. I'd not run an adapter on ANYTHING other than a boulevard cruiser. It's just not that safe no matter if your carving corners or going fast in a straight line.

Yeah I just read something about it not passing tech if I ever take it to the strip s.o I guess I'll scrap that idea. Thanks for all the help

D,, all that tech stuff is a PITA, and stupid expensive sometimes. but.... those rules were all made because someone got hurt / killed as a result of not building within those guidelines. Even if you were not headed to the track,, it's good food for thought in any build.

Centerline make some pretty nice stuff in 5 on 5. Here is the 15x12 I put on the rear of my son's truck.

I want to say I paid 900 or so for the wheels and I stole the tires. I paid 100 for the rears and nothing for the front.
