The 71Dragtruck thread
Well back when I first joined the forum, before we ever had this race section I never thought about keeping track of all the changes I was making to my truck in one thread, also never planned on making so many changes and a lot of never's have now become changes I've made.
So I'm going to do my best to compile some of the important info and progress into this one thread as Regan and DJ have done, to start in this post I'm just going to link a bunch of my old threads here VS a time consuming recap. Background on the truck is I got it around 33 years ago when I was 17, it came straight from a farm auction, was yellow with a white top, 350/350 combo, all that remains of that now 33 years later are the sheet metal, trim, grill, frame rails, some interior, pretty much every thing else is now aftermarket parts. It's had a few engine and rear combos and the trans has been reworked a couple times as well as convertor changes, its had: Original 350/TH350 that had bolt ons added, and a cam, shift kit. 396BBC that was suppose to have some work done to it but was mostly stock junk, TRW's and a cam, all lies LOL, no forged crank etc. live and learn was a guy the brother in law knew. Built that 396 up, good parts, ported, solid roller, lifter link came loose spun a lifter ate the cam. With that combo I built the trans and had a decent convertor, ran the 12 bolt, 4.10 gears posi rear, moser axels, street poly bushed 4-link. Next 489BBC, all real good parts read the treads below LOL, put in a mind steel roll bar, fab 9" and a rod end 4-link, this is as far as I ever had planned on taking the truck, basement 10's, although I once also said I'd never put a roll bar in it ha ha. I don't have many old pics of it as back then we didn't have cell phones, Digital cameras, we used film, would take pics and then couldn't afford to have the roll developed and would end up in the trash LOL. If I find any old stuff I'll try to post up a low quality pic or some sort of slide show, I don't have any pics of it yellow that I can recall. Anyway here are some of my past threads that contain build info, or track days, I know not the best format to present the info but.... http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=161655 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=167382 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=173637 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=175264 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=175977 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=184269 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=195663 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=196747 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=298609 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=626014 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=632568 If you recall or browsed any of those, you saw that the truck now has a IFS with coil overs and a rack up front now along with that fab'd 9" narrowed and mini tubbed in the rear. Re: The 71Dragtruck thread
Well getting closer to getting my truck home, hoping to pick it up on the 20th.
A few boring pics of some of the changes I have made. Needed to fit a 5” driveshaft, so needed to modify the 4 link cross member, made the bottom of the loop removable to make driveshaft install easier. Needed to also make a new driveshaft loop. New CM trans cross member, old one also had too much dip in it and required a spacer under the trans mount, no need anymore as exhaust won’t run in the frame rails.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread
Upgraded to larger CM link bars with better quality rod ends.
Diagonal link is gone and put in a CM wishbone. Added a anti roll bar.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread
New 4.5” merge collectors.
Header mock up, had to make them come down at a weird gasser like angle as primaries are only 28” long, not the best looking but power was the name of the game. Will have v-band attached dumps on the end to direct the outlet at a more less dust friendly position, can also look into a short exhaust if I want that will attach the same way. 70” wheelie bars. Glass back bumper fresh out of the mould.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread
New lexan back window, new down bars are tighter to the window opening so lost the slider with lexan corner glass and went full back window, did like the looks of the slider but wanted a tighter fitting cage that can hardly see from the outside.
New personalized plate New front rims, old ones were fine but you know bling is bling lol.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread
And now if everyone will line up in a orderly fashion, I will answer all questions one at a time LOL.
I’ll try to add a few more pics that I have later, when a bit more stuff gets done, almost seams like every time headway is made the next thing takes a bit longer than expected, so nothing out of the ordinary from any other time I’ve made big changes to the truck.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread
Ok a couple more as a test, photo bucket was being stupid on my iPad and made pictures huge then locked me out, but anyway we will give it a shot.
AND EDIT Pics were HUGE like beyond big, and would have messed up the entire thread page for mobile users, and on a desktop would have needed a monitor 6' wide, so deleted, will try to upload again some other time have to resize now for photobucket I guess.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread
Thanks, not sure what's up with photobucket, but had considered actually paying for a package from them because of how handy it was back in the day, but not if I have to resize stuff before I upload, thats a PIA.
Let's try a picture of the cage today.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread
looking real good.
is your cage certified or can it be, i like the cage layout nice and tight up in the roof and corners also did you really make a glass bumper using the inside of your old bumper as a mold that's a good idea

Everything looks really good. That Flexplate is cool I've never seen one like that.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread
Thanks, some Hawaiian guy out of California builds them, ring gear can be replaced and very high quality, engine builder put me on to them, Hutch also had mentioned them in the past.

Re: The 71Dragtruck thread
That looks good man. Building headers before the front bars was a good idea. Now you have to paint all of it.
