how much faster could i have been???
since i only ran a 15.72 at the track, i was wondering how much faster i could have been if i was shifting at the right time.
i didnt have a tach at the time and i thought i was shifting high enough, but it turns out, i was probably only taking it up to about 5200 rpm's. how much faster could i have ran if i revved it up to peak hp? around 6000-6300 rpm's ?? with the tach hooked up today, i took it up that high and it was was still pulling all the way up till i shifted(around 6100rpms) |

It's hard to say without more info. Have you dynoed the motor yet? Where are you hp/tq peaks at. You need to make sure your shifting while still on the up side of your power band.
Get it on a dyno before you hit the track again. You might be surprised at where your shift points should be... |

Yea I agree, Take it to a dyno. That will give you good info on where to shift. Plus...dynos are fun as heck. Took the blue truck there, only dyno 140rwhp but...

dang only a 650. The motor I am building is over 500flywheel hp. Thats good or 460-75 rwhp. And I am gunan run a 750. 650 sounds small to me for ur engine.

You really need to swap out those highway gears for something in the range of 3.40 (or numerically higher). THEN you will really see a difference, as the engine will come into it's powerband with much less effort (IE: Faster

I didnt think so either. The edelbrock is not a performance carb anyway. It is more of a street carb replacement. Go with a good Holley or Demon.
