what is this?

Does anyone know what this item is and where does the vacuum line that is attached to it supposed to go? It accidentally got pulled and i am not sure from where.

It is a vacuum canister. It should have a larger line going to the carb or a vacuum port. I think another line goes to a small vacuum line going into the dash for controlling the flapper door in the air ducts.

hmm, ok. I saw two lines, one looked like a wire going to the dash, but i guess it was a vacuum line. And the larger one that i cannot figure out where it goes. I'll look for opening. It looks a little short.

what does the canister do?

I think it just provides volume for vacuum an lines that go to it.
